In 1966, Shelby GT350H Mustangs entered Hertz’s rental fleet under what became famously known as the “Rent-a-Racer” program, instantly cementing their place in automotive history.

We are thrilled to offer this exceptionally rare, original Wimbledon White GT350H with Gold Le Mans stripes. Of the 1,001 Shelby GT350H cars produced, only 71 were finished in this striking livery. Put another way, just 7% of all Hertz GT350s left the factory in this color combination.

That rarity is exactly why The Cobra Experience acquired this car. This original GT350H has been proudly displayed on the museum floor for the past year, and now, we are excited to share this significant piece of Shelby and Hertz history with one lucky winner.

The Hertz issued GT350H Mustangs were every bit as serious as the standard GT350s on the lot. Each was powered by a K-code Cobra 289 high-performance V-8, producing 306 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. Performance was impressive for its era, with a 0–60 mph time of just 6.6 seconds and quarter mile runs in a little over 15 seconds—making these rental cars true street and strip legends.

Dedicated to Educating the Next Generation on the Accomplishments of Shelby American

In the 1960’s, the Shelby Cobra captured the heart and imagination of car racing enthusiasts. Carroll Shelby, the facilitator of the famous Shelby Cobra, GT40, Daytona Coupe and GT350, amongst others, campaigned cars from 1962 to 1968 at Shelby American in Southern California. These cars remain giants for their contributions to the evolution of the muscle car industry in this country.

It is the educating future generations and celebrating Shelby American's world dominance in sports car racing that is the linchpin of The Cobra Experience. In addition, you will be helping us to Drive Dreams Forward and expand and develop our programs to educate the public and the next generation of automotive enthusiasts about the legacy of Carroll Shelby and these great cars.

The Cobra Experience is a 25,000 SF museum located in Martinez, CA and showcases original Cobras, Shelby Mustangs, Daytona Coupes, GT40s, a King Cobra, Sunbeam Tigers and a Lotus. There are engine and wheel displays, posters, photos and a shop scene as it was at Shelby American in the 60s. Unique to the museum is a 40-seat surround sound theater which features an HD film about the cars and the Ford and Shelby American story.
