Members of Model A Ford clubs around the world share a deep passion for preserving and maintaining their antique cars. One club took that dedication to an extraordinary level by restoring a Model A from the frame up and presenting it as a museum-quality vehicle now displayed at the Model A Ford Foundation International (MAFFI) Museum in Michigan.
The project began when Ron Jennings donated a 1930 Briggs Fordor to MAFFI, and the Evergreen Chapter volunteered to restore it. A team of experienced club members undertook a full frame-off restoration. The body was removed from the frame, the original wood structure was replaced with a complete new wood kit, and extensive bodywork was completed before the car received fresh base-coat and clear-coat paint. The engine, transmission, and rear end were fully rebuilt, including new babbitt bearings, rebored cylinders with new pistons and rings, a performance camshaft, and modern valves with hardened seats. The final assembly included a new top, new glass, and high-quality upholstery, completing the car’s polished appearance.
All labor and parts for the restoration were donated by Evergreen Chapter members. After a successful test drive, the finished car was proudly presented to MAFFI at the 2014 MAFCA National Convention in Puyallup, Washington, where the keys were formally handed to MAFFI President Stan Johnson. The car was then transported to the MAFFI Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, where it remains on display today as a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication of the club members who restored it.
When you enter the MAFFI Sweepstakes, you’re not just taking a chance on winning this stunning 1930 Briggs Fordor—you’re also supporting something much bigger. Proceeds from the sweepstakes help sustain the Model A Ford Foundation International (MAFFI), the only museum in the United States dedicated entirely to the Ford Model A. Your entry helps preserve the history, craftsmanship, and stories behind these remarkable cars so future generations can experience and appreciate the legacy of the Model A.
The Model A Ford Foundation, Inc. (MAFFI) seeks to preserve Model A Fords and related artifacts and memorabilia, encourage research, and educate present and future generations about the Model A Ford and its era.
Every year a special Model A Day celebration is held on the third weekend of September. You are encouraged to attend the two day Model A only event, because all funds collected at the Gilmore Museum’s gate that day are given to MAFFI to support the foundation and the Model A Ford Museum.
By entering this Sweepstakes, you are becoming a part of a broader plan to help the Model A Museum expand.
You may also support the Model A Museum through Membership in MAFFI, and all donations and bequests are welcome and much appreciated.
