The Colorado Archaeological Society (CAS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1935 and dedicated to the stewardship of Colorado’s archaeological resources. Through public education, research, conservation, and advocacy, CAS works to promote responsible participation in archaeology and to deepen understanding of Colorado’s human past. Today, CAS is a statewide organization with nine chapters and more than 1,000 members committed to protecting and interpreting the archaeological heritage that connects communities, landscapes, and generations.
The Alice Hamilton Scholarship Fund, established by the Colorado Archaeological Society in 1986, honors the legacy of Alice Hamilton - a longtime CAS member, avocational archaeologist, and gifted educator known for her welcoming spirit and dedication to public outreach. The fund provides scholarships of $200 -$1,000 to Colorado undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Anthropology or related fields with an emphasis in Archaeology. Since 1987, CAS has awarded more than 309 scholarships totaling over $128,000, helping remove financial barriers for students pursuing careers in archaeology and ensuring that the study, protection, and sharing of our shared past continues into the future.
