VIP access puts you closer to the logistics, strategy, and raw engineering that define the race.
Twenty years ago, it started with a handful of rigs and a dream. Now it’s the largest motorized event on America’s public lands and showcases what motorized recreation can be when we have access to places like Johnson Valley. But that access isn’t guaranteed…
Nearly a decade ago the off-road community banded together to save the Hammers and access to Johnson Valley. However, public land access is never static. It is constantly, and often quietly, contested.
In September of 2025, a new military proposal once again threatened access to the Congressionality-recognized OHV recreation area of Johnson Valley. That’s when BlueRibbon Coalition and the off-road community stood our ground— again.
BRC brought together a coalition of off-road associations to direct advocacy efforts to ensure that military expansion would not impair the ability of King of the Hammers to operate.
While KOH is safe this year, the issue is ongoing. BlueRibbon Coalition is actively engaged in this process—monitoring developments, advocating for access protections, and preparing to respond if conditions change.
Public land access is rarely lost in a single decision. It erodes through revisions, amendments, and “temporary” changes that quietly become permanent. Staying involved requires sustained legal, technical, and advocacy capacity.
Every sweepstakes entry directly supports BlueRibbon Coalition’s mission to keep public lands— like Johnson Valley— open for motorized recreation. Your donation helps:
Legal action when access is threatened by closures, expansions, or policy changes
Advocacy and representation in front of federal agencies and decision-makers
On-the-ground defense of OHV areas used for racing, recreation, and industry
Long-term protection so events like King of the Hammers don’t disappear
Johnson Valley still exists as a world-class off-road destination because people fight for it. And with your help, we won’t stop fighting.
For over 30 years the BlueRibbon Coalition has been defending your adventures. If you enjoy recreating on public land we are fighting for you. We've won pivotal legal battles. We maintain a constant presence of grassroots advocacy, and with over 700,000 represented members, we are one of the strongest voices defending outdoor recreation. And we're just getting started.
